I meant Cleghorne. Idk where I got Prager from unless that's someone else. I'm not very knowledgeable of '90s SNL.

Loved the Casablanca bit, Kate McK is really very good.

There were a fair amount of good bits this week, from the Activity Set For Women commercial to the Jay Z doc. I've read about 5 reviews in the industry rags, all but one thought this was a solid show with great bits, however few of them agreed on which bits were best and/or worse! So since it appealed to most folks in some capacity I guess that's not a bad effort.

I thought it was a stellar effort, with J.K. Simmons a cut above the usual host. There were the inevitable Richard Sherman/Marshawn Lynch and Whiplash bits, but they managed to pull off both. Jebidiah Atkinson's rundown on Grammy nominees past and present was of course the highlight - "a night long tribute to the Spotify playlist of a 12-year-old girl." "The Beatles? If anything, THEY ruined Yoko."

  8. I hope Bill Murray and Paul Shafer do another lounge singer song. They killed at the 25th show.

I like that show a lot. Have it on DVD. Hope the new show is on par. Jack Nicholsons presence interests me.

I'm worried that it may be too guest star heavy. Do we need all of these people? I'd rather have as much of the past cast there as possible. Glad to see Eddie Murphy there though!

You're thinking of Tom Davis's girlfriend Emily Prager - she's listed as a featured player in Ebersol's first episode, and never appears on the show (and disappears after that episode).

It was Ann Risley. The other members of the 1980 cast (Gottfried, Rocket, Piscopo, Dillon and Matthius) attended.

To be fair, I HIGHLY doubt Jeanine Garofalo showed up. After badmouthing everyone she worked with on the show, I doubt she would've been welcome.

I'm surprised to see Adam Sandler. After his appearance on the 25th Anniversary special, he seems to have fallen out with someone and refused to discuss the show again.

    She's always available for these!

  18. Given her low profile and habits back in the day, I would've expected she OD'd years ago.

JK Simmons did very well, I thought. Best bits were the "Activity Set For Women" and Tarran't great "Jebediah Atkinson" during WU. I was very happy to see that character return. Cecily's "Narrowly drawn female character in a male driven comedy" seemed to fall mostly flat, though I really liked it the first time she did it.

That's my thought. Derek Jeter? Kanye West? Betty White? Why? I'd rather see people like Jenny Slate, Abby Elliot and Michaela Watkins get an appearance.

Derek Jeter is still on his victory lap around the tri-state area. He should be done by this coming November when he announces his bid for President.

Id like to hear backstage stories from the early days of SNL. Looked like a big party!

The 40th anniversary special airs tonight from 8 to 11:30 and may run even longer, so set your DVR accordingly. There's also a red carpet pre-show at 7, if you can stand that kind of thing.

I don't normally comment about folks' appearances, but since this one is positive, I'll do it. It's crazy how healthy and happy Laraine looks nowadays considering she almost never did while on the show.

Lorraine has had a "little" work done. Looks nothing like herself today IMO.
