I can't say, but we saw it. Sounded like the first contestant's intro was taped and included a couple of false starts or something, right?

1974. When I last saw him in 1980, it was just he and van Zandt and still sounded like a rock band.

Ah, employing the, "I'm gonna go on the Muppet Show before Clubber Lang beats the crap out of me" Rocky Balboa strategy.

Did you somehow miss her last fight? She already got the crap beat out of her.

Holm should hold out for the big big bucks if she wants a rematch which I am sure Rousey will.

Did they pay tribute to Bowie? I know he's had a small presence on the show over the years.

Fred Armisen gave a tribute and then a short clip.

An all around 'meh' show. I don't think there was a single sketch I truly enjoyed. Bummer, 'cause I have little hope next week will be any good.

I liked "Undercover Boss" but for the rest I agree.

Yep. The best skit was the Kylo Ren "Undercover Boss".

Undercover Boss was funny. The sketch where he and Jasmine were on the flying carpet wasn't bad. I like Vanessa's "Laura Parsons" character that appeared during WU. I also thought the bit where Kyle and Kate were kids of parents at the Oscars was kinda funny.

There were a few laughs but overall it was a subperformer. Geez, they only had 6 weeks to come up with....all that.

    Still.....

I didn't think it was a bad episode (other than not showing an entire Bowie clip). I thought Adam Driver was good and liked the "Golden Globes" short sketch- I think by far Kyle Mooney is the most intriguing/talented person on the show these days. I think he will have an interesting career. Liked Chris Stapleton too- they need more varied musical guests.

Agree with almost all of that (Kyle Mooney being the exception). I thought it was a really strong show, which makes a grand total of two this season-- already beating last season. Weak points for me were the cat show and the news. And especially agree about Chris Stapleton and the need for more varied musical guests. Let's see Dave Rawlings or Jason Isbell up there

My young roomie thought he was getting booed as well. I assume it was a 'Bruce' cheer and told her so

I'm guessing he's going for a Spector effect, live.

  23. Springsteen has had essentially the same lineup (plus or minus horns and backing singers and replacing dead band members) for about 13 years now. I'm not sure Patti's acoustic guitar is even put through the PA.

  24. 1980 was a long time ago in the E Street Band narrative.
    '74 even longer!

The guitar line-up of Bruce / Steven / Nils has been operating now for almost two decades.
Realistically, you can't be surprised that it isn't just Bruce up there "with a Tele".
