Were those girls really playing their guitars? Looked like they were faking it to me.

The slide continues...the season peaked with the first Melissa McCarthy sppearance as Spicy but it's been downhill since. The writing has been pretty weak. The " best season in many years" thing was fun while it lasted - even Weekend Update has been pretty lame.

They were very much playing their guitars.
Wonder why you thought otherwise... :shh:

I thought this was a pretty hilarious episode. First one I thoroughly enjoyed for awhile. Did anyone else get the impression that it felt kinda like a dress rehearsal, though? Melissa's feed cutting off during the monologue, all the line reading mistakes, the "Promotional Consideration for SNL furnished by Apple"' card... It was odd.

I kind of enjoyed them the last time they were on SNL. This time was excruciating.

Michael Che still wearing some of the make-up on his forehead which he used to play Lester Holt 45 minutes prior was very odd.

Probably not...we all know only men actually play their instruments on TV.

On my station there's always a fraction of a second delay between sound and video , seems to only affect fallon and SNL. It makes it look like bands are miming til I figured out the issue

Not much I laughed at this week. The echo for seniors was funny but that was about it.

The only thing I really liked was the filmed Leslie Jones/boyfriend bit with Colin getting shot and Loren's reaction. And the opening Mother's Day monologue.

I found the Amazon Silver and the Leslie Jones/Kyle Mooney shorts bith hilarious. Aside from the political bits, none of the sketches did it for me.

I was reminded of the Weekend Update line, "All the children made it back from the field trip...with some exceptions" :)

I had to replay that part of the show to hear that line again after watching it because at first I thought they said "Marion Cotillard" and I thought to myself, "Why are they ripping on her and what does she have to do with it?" LOL

Hey... highest ratings in 23 years so they are doing something right.

  20. I didn't think I knew that band until she did that and then it was "oh yeah, them".

Keep in mind, Lorne Michaels still seems to look at the 1994-1995 season (the worst the show ever did, bar none) as an achievement.

No way 1994-95 could be worse than 1980-81 or 1985-86!

Ye Gods, that's like a bad parody of a bad parody of a heavy metal "guitar face". I'm sure she is aware that she does that (a LOT), but...why?
It gets in front of me trying to enjoy their music, I found myself more interested in watching for her next grimace...

Have you seen it? XD 1994-95 defines "silent audience." Though I agree, I've seen the original airing of the 1985-86 premiere with Madonna, easily the worst SNL episode in history.

(Honestly, 1980-81's reputation is worse than the season actually was. Yes, there are bad sketches - like the infamously nasty "Commie Hunting Season" - but there's a lot of gold hidden in there too.)
