Why does SNL or Lorne Michaels love Charles Barkley enough to have him host 4Xs???

Well having hosted four episodes, I should hope he's been in some funny bits. Not sure it was due to him, though. As far as athlete/former athlete hosts go, he may be in the upper 50%, but that's not saying much. He was horrible in this most recent episode he hosted.

Last night was much better. I'm not familiar with Sterling K Brown, but he did very well, and I hope he comes back. Really liked seeing Vanessa again too. Until that very last sketch, I forgot Luke Null even was part of the cast.

I really liked the “writers’ sketch” at the end with the Nickelback song. It was dumb, but damned if I wasn’t laughing my ass off.

Just watched this Saturday’s show and it was just fine. Performed well, not terribly funny but was entertained. The musical guest James Bay seemed so incredibly vain I couldn’t take it.

A tallish Tom Cruise with Elvis Costello feet...and the vapid dial turned up to 11.

Bits like Deathbed Nickleback are the reason I stick with the whole show. Nice to see Villasenor get more than one line. Heidi Gardener is showing presence and versatility. But heaven help them when Cecily Strong retires.

I've been disappointed in the last 3 shows. There was a funny bit in the Oscar Winner/Loser Family Feud when Keenan went out of his Steve Harvey character when he realized that he hasn't gone anywhere else besides SNL. The return of Dawn Lazarus weather report was refreshing and the last skit with the Nickleback Death bed had me laughing.

I think this one was pretty funny throughout. Hader makes me laugh, and maybe Mulaney wrote a lot of it. :D

  11. Was that first Arcade Fire song a cover of the track from Revenge of the Nerds?

It’s all I could think when they were performing.

Right before the Olympics is the first time I ever recall them doing four new episodes in a row...it's usually three and then a break. This time they obviously they want to give the cast and crew an extra week for Easter.

A break from all the laughing! /s
The Hader show was ok-but only when he was breaking character. Arcade Fire are available for weddings.

Kind of a meh episode which coasted on Hader’s bits from the past. I kind of like Hader but he’s usually a lot more over the top than whoever else is in a scene. Return of the dreaded “game show parody” skit and for some reason the first half of Arcade Fire’s 2nd song was lopped off on WNBC (where I see the show). Did I miss anything?

Dang- I was really hoping for some dramatic dialogue/set-up ala “Kilroy Was Here” for why exactly they were playing in an “Everything Now” themed casino.

There have been game show parodies all season.

Interesting the 2nd song was cut into for you too. It was in the Bay Area, too. I thought it was because of a quick breaking news clip about an SF fire.

I completely disagree, as I hate when they break character. I thought Horace in his motorized chair was funny, but it would have been better if Cecily had been able to keep it together. Stefon? Ugh, I know people love that. But of all the recurring Hader characters they could have done, that was the last one I wanted to see. It was really funny the first few times they did it when the comedy came from the writing and the mannerism Bill imbued Stefon with. But once they decided it was more important to simply make Bill laugh by intentionally giving him lines he hasn't seen before, it stopped being funny to me. They still write some funny descriptions of the clubs, but what's the point if Bill can't even say the lines as Stefon? Was really hoping for Vinny Vedecci, Veteran Reporter Herb Welch or Vincent Price instead of Stefon.

I still enjoyed the episode all the way through, including the Irish Dating Show. Too bad they didn't have that one ready to go when Saoirse Ronan was the host.

God forbid. They've already beome pretentious enough without that. Mind you, they could've used Hader's Vincent Price to do a pre-song narration like on Thriller....

Cecily did an imitation of Liza Minnelli on one of those game show parodies and it was still the funniest thing I have seen all season. It hearkened back to the glory days of SCTV. She and Kate are basically carrying the show at this point, and I really miss Vanessa and all her weirdness.. The boys still aren't that funny and the writing generally stinks. No one really knows how to write a sketch anymore. They just come up with a premise and then it ends. All that diversity is nice, I guess, but it doesn't mean much if the show isn't funny. Other than the news and some of the filmed bits, it's been a rough season for me.
