Save Our History series: "Save Our Sounds" on TV (you'll have to scroll down & look to the right under the heading "Related TV Programs")

I saw this a couple months ago and it was very informative. One interesting thing was their choice of archiving equipment. I saw a Nagra (sp?) tape deck, computers using 96/24 encoding software, Denon turntables (99.9% sure of that) and Technics SL-1200 turntables with Stanton cartridges. The archivists also discussed which stylus they used for which record, and how much de-clicking would be employed.

Very good stuff--watch or program your VCR (I think it will also be on at 12:00PM that same day).

Thank heavens. I really wanted to catch this the 1st time around, but the H channel wasn't available. Now it is.

Let's "BUMP" this thread closer to the March date so we don't forget. A lot of us missed it.

    Same here.
I don't miss cable much except when shows like this air.
However, one can buy the video for $25, which is about half a month's worth of cable these days.
