Al Pacino's legacy hasn't been talked much here, has it? What's your Favorite Pacino role? If you were Al,what role he'd played would've you turned down for and for what reason? Would you want to trade lives with him for a day? I'm curious to find out!:righton:

    "Scent of a Woman."

    Favorite lines:

    "I'm in the dark here!"

"Ooh...she has honey in her voice."

And then, almost the line after that, which I think can't be printed. Something about "going down." :)

  6. Looking forward to seeing "YOU DON'T KNOW JACK" but am really hoping there isn't too much yelling....

Martin Short nailed Pacino down, complete with yelling, in those ads he'd did for the "Biography" channel in the late '90's! "Choke,,,Where are those Lozenges!?"

My favorite actor is Gene Hackman, but close behind in second is Pacino.
I think it got mixed reviews, but I liked Chinese Coffee.

Michael Corleone is by far his best work, IMO.

Al's been super-inconsistent since the mid-70s - he's done some good work since then, but ever since he embraced yelling 35 years or so ago, he's been more bad than good...

Underrated Scent of a Woman was one of his best. BTW, what was he doing between 1985 Revolution and 1989 Sea of Love?

Love all the lesser known 70's stuff. Panic In Needle Park, Scarecrow. Even Bobby Deerfield somewhat but my fav is probably Scent of A Woman.

One of my favorite actors, and we share the same first name!

He cracked me up on Looking For Richard: "AH HORSE! AH HORSE!"

    Scent Of A Woman

...and one of my all time favorite movies. Seriously needs a blu ray release.

I agree, even though I wasn't at all impressed with his acting in III, perhaps the lousy film is more to blame.

He was pretty understated and I thought quite good in:
    Insomnia
    Frankie & Johnnie
    Any Given Sunday
    Donnie Brasco

    Very litle screaming in those.

I should've been specific: Pacino as Michael in "GF" 1 and 2 showed him at his peak. Pacino in "GF3" was just a loud, hammy dud - that film's Michael bore no resemblance whatsoever to the earlier character...

I'm glad to see the support here for Scent Of A Woman. Seinfeld and pop culture references aside (Hoo-Ah!), I thought he was great in that role, showed a lot of range, and certainly made it his own. Any Given Sunday is another favorite.

Since this is an Al Pacino thread I hope I will be forgiven for bragging that he came to a big Halloween party that I threw in (I think it was) 1977 in West Hollywood. Some of my room mate's friends we involved in King Of The Gypsies and a bunch of film people showed up that night. I walked into my kitchen and there was Al, having a drink and looking quite comfortable as I stammered a greeting and tried to compose myself. Will never forget that moment!

I think my favorite movie line by Pacino is in Glengarry Glen Ross:

"Hey, let me buy you a pack of gum. I'll show you how to chew it." Whoof!
