The great actor Scott Wilson has passed away at age 76. No cause of death yet.
The entire cast of The Walking Dead has always considered him a close friend and,
even though his character was killed off several seasons ago, he recently completed
filming scenes for the current season starting tonight. Obviously, they would be
    flashbacks.

Sad news. TMZ reports it was complications from leukemia. Hershel was one of my favorite TWD characters and for a while he was the moral center of the story. I haven't watched In Cold Blood in years but I look forward to revisiting that too. RIP Scott Wilson.

Very sad for sure. His character on TWD was unforgettable. The acting was superb and his scenes gave the show part of its cut above/validation in a world of zombies. R.I.P.

Interestingly, I saw the 1967 best picture "In The Heat Of The Night" when it was
released and many more times over the years. As a major "Walking Dead" fan,
it took me several episodes in season 2 to realize a young Scott Wilson was in
"Heat Of The Night", his first role.

He also had a recurring role in the original CSI as Sam Braun, the father of Marg Helgenberger's character Catherine Willows.

I last saw him in “Hostiles” where he basically has a cameo. I liked him in “The Walking Dead” when I watched it. I was sorry to see him go in that. I’m sorry to see him go for good now. Bummer.

After the show left his farm house way back when...so did my interest in the show.

This being a memorial, I will stave off my response to this. I will say that he laid some fine groundwork for what Maggie has become and that is something I value a great deal as I continue to watch the show and look forward to tonight!

His new filmed scenes I am sure are going to be fantastic.

I remember seeing him on The Talking Dead and he said his 98 year old mother was a huge fan of the show. Rest in peace Scott. I remember him in a child's movie called Shiloh that my kids would watch when they were younger.

I loved what he brought to TWD. His character is among the most memorable ones of the show. His flashback scenes in the new season will be especially poignant now.

    May he RIP.

    RIP.

Coincidently I have seen a young Scott Wilson in a couple of films recently - a small part in The Right Stuff and then, I guess, the leading role in a film called The Ninth Configuration. He is outstanding in The Ninth Configuration, his best performance I think (and the only role he got nominated for a Golden Globe for). Mark Kermode loves that film and provides a commentary on the BD.

I can't forget though when the Governor beheaded him, and Tara says 'he just cut that guys head off'. Really sad as he was the heart of the team.

My daughter and I met him at PensaCon a couple of years ago. He was so sweet and took the time to get to know us a little. When I mentioned NINTH CONFIGURATION he took a step back and gave me a smile. It was a nice moment.
