Maria was one of my first childhood crushes.

44 years talking to puppets... I can relate

In all seriousness, a good memory of mine was calling a telethon in the 70s for tickets to sesame street live in NYC and actually getting to talk to Maria, live in person. What a trip for a kid to talk to a real live tv star!

 

And even though I was really too old to "learn" from Sesame Street, (born 1964) I enjoyed her work, and I too had a crush on her!

 

I love that woman too. I hope she fully comprehends the positive impact she's had on so many generations.

When I was little and would heard the song "Uptown" by the Crystals, I always imagined that it was Maria singing it.

 

Another, sad bit of Sesame Street news. Jane Aaron, who created numerous animated shorts featured on the show, has passed away.

That show went to complete crap in 1993!!
