Just an observation. Not a criticism. I thought I had voted, especially when I saw Queen II make the cut. So many "top/favourite" threads on here (in general, or else by decade/by artist/by year), it's hard to keep track.

Thick as a Brick? Not even close to the best in Ian's catalog.
    5 Pink Floyd Albums?
    Astral Weeks and no Moondance?
The Cure, Television and Patti Smith..........no Ramones or Sex Pistols?
Love and the Monkees? Though, I do enjoy the Monkees choice.

It's not supposed to include the entire time spectrum....just The Best albums.

Some of those from the 80s, 90s and beyond might make a lower tier....not amongst The Best !!

    as determined by voters.

What poll is this thread going on about? Would a link be too difficult?

It's definitely tops on mine. I think "Revolver" is a landmark record and it has consistently gone up for me over time, yet it's still third in line, in my opinion, during that 13 month watershed time (May of '66 through June of '67). Of course, being third to albums like Pet Sounds and Pepper is as good as being first by a wide margin over almost any other albums at any other point in time. :)

Then again, while I love lists and rankings, I don't like viewing albums as "sports". Each of the three stand on their own as individual art works, and all three were creations built off of each other, as it should be. :)

Its really hard to say whats the best. Maybe have a poll that would have the best pick for every 5 years since the genre was always changing and branching out. For example start with '56-'60 if thats not too early.
    '56-'60'
    '61-'66
    '67-'71
    '72-'76 and so on...

I actually counted about 13 albums in the original list as ones that I would likely have somewhere in my own Top 100. And probably another 10-13 that I wouldn't, but are still perfectly logical or beloved choices. Which seems to be the case with most greatest album lists. There are classics that indeed seem "obvious" to me (Pet Sounds, Led Zeppelin II and IV, What's Going On, Electric Ladyland, Let It Bleed, etc). In those cases I always seem to be right in step with the consensus. On the other hand, the other half of my choices are selections I rarely if ever see on such lists (maybe or maybe not for good reason). :)

In short, I always seem to be in step with the consensus on several titles, yet very much not in step on others. Like they always say, the "truth" is often in the middle somewhere. And there will never be a ranking that can account for individual taste. Which is why the Top 100 list that we each make is the one that is right.

No longer viable? Your opinion, of course, but not mine. RS is doing fine.

If you had said not relevant, I could appreciate and argue the point.
