Maybe not a monstrosity but a pretty terrible idea just the same. Let Sgt Pepper be what it's always been. No deluxe, no bonus, no nothing. Just Sgt Pepper.

Trust me I love the allure of the fabs, but I do try to add other music to the threads.

If you read closer...the music is by the Beetles ( no drop T)..John Linnon, Moe Mccartney, Joe Harrison , & Fringo Star. I don't think this is the Beatles.

I detest this whole idea, but if it's an analogue, stereo redo, then I'll probably buy it.

    Sheesh.

Penny Lane somewhere late on side 1, SFF starts off side 2 in lieu of WYWY...

Oh, look what I'm doing now...

    Double Sheesh...

I'm hoping more than just the two tracks.

Probably much more than just that.

So what's the record for most posts in one thread here? This one could be a contender.

The new release will feature the cut outs sheet, with an extra cut out of George Martin, as George Martin had originally intended... ;)

Assuming the preliminary reports are correct, I would welcome a special anniversary edition of Pepper. In the past, I've observed that Apple rarely makes a big deal about anniversaries, but that doesn't mean I agree. Best case, they do something really special, and its success prompts more such projects. The Beatles were a musical group, and anniversary products should be musical, rather than calendars, t-shirts, or $200 limited edition lithographs.

It would be impossible to come up with a release that would satisfy everyone - especially because some people will insist that any added material, unreleased or not, is sacrilege because the original album was perfect, and/or the original configuration is sacrosanct because it reflected the band's intent at the time, and any deviation is therefore tampering with history.

I remember the earliest press reports about Anthology. The first details were that it would have two unreleased songs from 1965. This was accurate, as far as it went, but didn't quite tell the whole story. I suspect the same is true now.

For now, I'm going to deliberately calibrate my expectations on the low end (say, a double CD, original LP plus SFF/PL, disc 1 original stereo, disc 2 mono, plus a book). I'd love more than that, of course, but I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than set my sights too high (all the stem tracks on Blu-ray!!) and be disappointed.

Best case: new mix and outtakes not found on Anthology 2. Worst case: People who personally have no interest in an expanded reissue successfully lobby to prevent its release, as though their offense at the idea of its existence outweighs the fact that they don't have to buy it.

Wow, this is so fantastic, an immediate buy. Those two bonus tracks have been incredibly hard to find.

Oh wait, no they haven't. Pass.
