Listening to the "with a little help from my friends' reminds me of Pet Sounds.

What source talks about demixing? I haven't seen that to date.

Ringo's first drum fill is different, as it's a different take, and it totally scrambles my brain! :D

I do the same when Good Morning comes on! That Epiphone Casino just rips through the song beautifully!

And a great suggestion: I'll get A2 out so I can listen to the Pepper session material on there!

I hear ya, and I'm not shocked either. The thing is, there's a minimum of instruments on the session tracks, compared to the masters. Lead and backing vocals, sometimes double-tracked, extra guitars and pianos, sound effects, added percussion, etc... THIS is where the mixing decisions and results will get more tricky. If each and every instrument and vocal had their own track, it would STILL be difficult to mix. I think the spectral editing will be kept to a minimum on the stereo remix. The Reprise will use it because there was no bounce down. Other tracks may have too many things going on to separate them... so I wouldn't be shocked if they used the process to separate, say guitars and vocals from one track... or maybe percussion and vocals. Who knows? You may be well-rewarded when all is said and done. Ron

Yes!! And George talking all technical about the recording process. It encapsulates those three personalities beautifully! :p

PS The outtakes and sessions almost always sound clearer and more defined than the masters. Ever notice how good the backing tracks for Day Tripper, Paperback Writer and Hello Goodbye (amongst many others) sound compared to their final mixes?

And I can imagine Ringo saying afterwards "Can I go home now?".

Yes, same with Beach Boys session material. Why is that? I want a clear, more defined stereo mix of the album.

If the snippets in the YouTube video are any indication, it is NOT what we will get.

I wish I had as much money as Spanky to toss at this.
I was in until my Amazon.ca order got cancelled. I might have to opt for the 2 CD version for now.

The nature of the beast. Cramming as much information on four-track as possible, bouncing it down, sometimes two or three times. There's only so much information one can put on tape. It's a testament to Martin and company how well the original mixes, stereo and mono, sounded considering all. Ron

Yup. Plus masters have been run and rerun for mastering and dubbing and all sorts of fun stuff.

Multitracks tend to sit and wait patiently for another chance to shine. :D

I think it's perfectly appropriate to treat the album remix differently from the outtakes. The remix is where Giles should be thinking outside the box, using modern technology to achieve something they couldn't in 1967. But the outtake should be straight "first ever" mixes from the multis, and sound of their time. imo of course.
