There were parts of the Apple jamming in real stereo, that were not on Anthology, and Nagra is all mono. No VHS or Laser Disc version has been known to be released in stereo.

 

Yes it was on Youtube, no it was gone in a day.

 

The red flag though was that the video quality while better than the known releases was nowhere near 1+ quality.

 

Someone is fishing around with the master tapes and it is obviously not Ron Howard at this point...................

 

Well I said on the "1+" thread that the Let it Be era footage looked like a 90's remaster job and not the pristine quality that other clips were in!

 

Perhaps someone like Ray S can give an explanation if there are other stereo sources of the movie audio.
I was actually surprised at the time that there wasn't 100 pages on it. I'm guilty of Get Back session obsession so I'm not knocking anyone.

 

The only thing I noticed was the failure to remove movie "hairs".

 

Just checked again...You Really Got a Hold on Me for example is NOT on Anthology-this jam is true stereo-no trickery.

I've Got a feeling-true stereo, but seamlessly cuts to the old bag complaining, still "ruining" the song....

How ling is the YRGAHOM snippet? On the anthology dvd there is a short segment of it. I remember this segment as being stereo. Strangely enough it is in one of the first episodes.

 

I'm not one looking to get rid of folks or censor anyone. I have no animosity either. I just wish a few folks would stop making negative comments every time I mention a source. And in this thread, my source information has been hardly worthwhile at all. We can only dream that any Beatles "Pepper" set will be as good as the FITD box set. Really well done. I don't have any reference books with me, but I thought the film version of You Really Got A Hold On Me was in true stereo somewhere. Maybe on one Roger Scott's or Barrett's tape dub sets? The Celluloid Rock boot? Ron

I believe that audio used the Ron Furmanek mixes, done many years ago.

The Apple studios material is on 8-track, so I'm presuming a new mix will be done for any eventual release.

 

Mike are you aware of the "stereo" mixes of LIB material creating by combining audio from camera A in one channel and camera B in the other? That may be the sort of trickery you referred to but it can be pretty effective(it's much better than the old duophonic or other fake stereo effects from the 60s.)

 

I'll have to check my Barrett discs. Some of the Apple jams weren't tracked. It is possible someone just did a great edit job.

YRGAHOM was tracked. Barrett's mix is obviously mixed from the 8-track, even though I seem to remember that it's in mono.

Yes it is tracked but Besame Mucho for example sounded more mono.
