And when I say short, I mean short like under 5'4" or close to that.

I bring this up because I was reading a bio on Blue Öyster Cult where Eric Bloom claimed that they were one of the shortest bands in rock. I believe the tallest member of the band was Allen Lanier at 5'8", and Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser being the shortest at 5'2". The Bouchard brothers were 5'4" and 5'3".

Lots of short guys in music (which is kind of weird, but not really?), but who are some of the really short ones you can think of? I know Steve Marriott was very short, but I'm unsure as to how tall he actually was. Glen Danzig comes to mind as well. He can't be over 5'3" himself.

  3. Paul Simon is a whopping 5'2". First guy to come to mind though was the fellow above, who is also 5'2".

Jim Rodford of Argent/Kinks is vertically challenged. As is Al Jardine of the Beach Boys.

Absolutely in terms of AC/DC. Seeing pictures of them, the Young brothers can't be over about 5'4" or so.

Michel Petrucciani, was a dwarf and an amazing jazz pianist that died far too young.

Generous estimates put him at about 5'4".

  15. On some photos of The Mothers, Jean-Luc Ponty looks about one foot shorter than Frank Zappa, who was supposed to be 6'2''.

Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson and Martin Barre look fairly short but I don't know their specs. They sure did a lot of jumping around at some point!

I'd say Bono's around 5'5". The Internet claims he's 5'8" but that would make me an inch taller, and I kinda towered over him. Adam Clayton was about my height, as means of comparison.

Steve Stevens. Generously estimated at 5 ft 6 in.

Somebody mentioned Ronnie James Dio. His whole band The Elves / Electric Elves / Elf was made up of pretty short guys (hence the band name). David "Rock" Feinstein from that band and also The Rods looks just about as tall as his guitar!

    Nils Lofgren = definitely.

I worked security at a Springsteen concert in 1984, and got backstage and Nils Lofgren was walking right beside me going out to the stage and he was at least a foot shorter than I. I'm 6'4", so I'd say he was probably no taller than 5'3" or so.
