I never got the hang of those things. They made me mix the vocal way too low, and that's a bad thing in Nashville where the vocal is the only thing people seem to listen to. :realmad:

I thought they were flat when referring to their dynamics ;)

You guys gotta be pulling my leg. Maggies have some of the best dynamics in the world. Have you heard the 20.1s? 3.6s? 1.6QRs?

Heck, I've listened to every major high end speaker and the Maggies beat most of them. I would otherwise have another speaker.

I've never heard Maggies in my life, Lee. Just bein' a goof. :p

Lots of fans, though, and a good price/performance ratio I understand.

A lot of audiophile labels have had luck with Reference 3A monitors....

We used to record at RCA's Studio A back in the 90s and it was so funny to go in and listen to their super expensive playback gear and then we would break it down and replace with our own high end system and blow them away.

Then we would bypass some ridiculous Neve board with the latest in flying fader tech and install a one box high end mixer (I think George Kaye or Bob Katz built it) with just 3-4 dials and use it. The RCA engineers thought we were crazy until they heard the results.

We used the Neve board only for communicating via PA and for a stand for our monitors. :)

We also used Stax headphones instead of the K240 (?) AKG studio phones for monitoring. Used the K phones on the artists though...
