Earlier in this thread there's an owner with the most impressive CD shelving I've seen - thousands of titles. But it was custom made. Back in the heyday of CDs there were tons of CD-specific shelves, though many were for smaller collections. I've not seen a perfect-fit stock solution - just because CDs are so shallow compared to LPs. I think you need to go custom or do some hacking of existing product.
240 of my over 700 CDs, the ones that are on purposely-built shelves. There rest are on anvils and it would be too laborious to reach into them just to take pics :
Wow. Like the Turtles much? I don't fully understand why, but Flo & Eddie had an enormous impact on me. Especially the Phlorescent Leech & Eddie Album, which is truly one of my desert island discs. I'm probably one of the handful of people that really enjoy the Flo & Eddie years of Zappa's band. Mark used to work down the street from me at Belmont College. I finally worked up the nerve to drop in on him one day in his office. We talked for a few minutes, but he had to go and give out a final exam, so that was that.
I got this custom made last year. The top half are fixed CD size shelves & the bottom half is deep adjustable shelving with doors (for LPs or books). It also wraps around the wall to the right but not visible here. Sorry it’s not my collection but thought it might be useful here
This is fantastic. I want the same style (thick space between shelves) but made for vinyl. Would you mind taking a close up of the shelves - to see more detail in how the shelves are crafted? Is the thickness solid wood or a plate over a thinner piece of wood?
Make sure you don’t span the shelves too long and best to use hard wood as mdf could sag. These selves are about 36 inches long. Probably should have been around 32” Even less for LPs maybe 24” tops???
anyone have any recommendations for a cabinet for 45's. I can stop buying 45's lately and need a better way to store them then the wood crates I currently have them in.
I'm wondering what to do with my 45's also because I need to rearrange them. I play them a lot so I need some way to be able to organize while having easy access to them. I'd like a very sturdy shelf or cabinet but haven't seen the right thing yet.
You must upload your picture to an image hosting site, which will provide you with the link to share the picture. Imgur is a good one (registration is free).
I use a site called PostImage (Postimage.org — free image hosting / image upload ). You can set up a free account and I've never had a problem embedding images in posts here. For whatever reason, I can never get Imgur images to come through.
I'll try and keep this short, but it has been a long (strange) trip/journey. I "like" having the physical product (CDs & LPs) in my hands and so have never really got into streaming my tunes. As a result, my collection keeps growing and I find myself needing more room for storage. I/we have had a lot of storage setups. See first 2 pics for unit that was recently replaced by what you see in the last 2 pics. Due to the size needed, I (and wife) wanted a piece of "furniture" for the storage unit, not just another shelf unit. Spent a lot of time figuring it out and then putting it up, and that took a lot longer than I expected. Very rough guess is this wall is holding 2500-2600 CDs with room for 150-200 more (that's what the gaps you see are for). Have another 500-600 stored elsewhere. Wall on right (where clock is) will have a short "L" of shelves added eventually. Previous unit (was 2 sections and in 2 rooms): Above were replaced with: Where to next? I will be needing more room eventually and always looking for ideas. What ideas do you have for me?
