Shure M44-7 slight static noise heard for a few seconds after lifting needle
Has anyone experienced this? Wearing headphones, I hear a faint, slight static noise for a few seconds in one channel after lifting the M44-7 stylus off the record. I don't hear this with my Shure m97xe (even when turning the volume louder to compensate for the differences in their output voltage). Is this noise just an artifact from the M44-7's ultra high 9.5mV output or a defect?

I've had a similar issue with Rega Bias 2. It was not all that subtle - sounded like record surface noise and it persisted while the lifter was in motion. Quite annoying. Only happened during lifting, not lowering.

I suspected the lifter itself, but then I found somewhere on the net a statement (ostensibly originating from Rega) that it was a rare cartridge manufacturing defect - something to do with the flexibility of the material the cantilever is anchored in. Maybe you are experiencing the some phenomenon.
