www.amazon.com/Complete-Albums-Collection-Simon-Garfunkel/dp/B00N9LNNQA This title will be released on November 18, 2014. No info yet on how they are going to get twelve CDs, so here's some speculation: - Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. - Sounds of Silence - Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme - Bookends - Bridge Over Troubled Water - The Concert in Central Park - Live from New York City, 1967 - Old Friends: Live on Stage (2CD) - Live 1969 And now I'm getting desperate so choose two out of: - The Graduate O.S.T. - An 'odds and ends' disc of non-album tracks. - Think Too Much (the completed-but-rejected reunion album) Alternatively, perhaps there are stereo and mono versions of the first four-and-a-half albums. On the one hand, there has to be something special to tempt people who already have this stuff five times over. On the other hand, Simon and Garfunkel have been notoriously protective of their unreleased material.
I have a 6-disc set from a few years back (5CDs and 1 DVD) and from memory the mastering was very pleasing and it was a nice, inexpensive package. I too am wondering how they are going to fill 12 CDs - a lot of additional live stuff I'm guessing?
I'm pretty sure you could make the first five albums stereo/mono twofers. (Only about half of "Bridge" was released in mono.)

(1964) Sounds Of Silence (1966) Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme (1966) The Graduate (Original Soundtrack) (1968) Bookends (1968) Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970) Simon & Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits (1972) The Concert In Central Park (1982) Old Friends: Live On Stage (2004) [2CD] Live From New York City, 1967 (2002) Live 1969 (2008) Original mixes (mono and stereo) for the studio material would be good...
Already discussed and answered in this thread: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threa...albums-collection.326822/page-4#post-11046411
I don't expect will ever come out officially - I'm surprised it hasn't come out unofficially either (apart from a cassette dub of a very early version). Even so, there's a whole bunch of non-album tracks that could have been gathered together in place of Greatest Hits. Or, maybe they'll surprise us with a whole bunch of bonus tracks for each album. I'm not going to hold my breath... Duly noted. Of course, if I couldn't find it when I searched by thread title, there are probably others who won't be able to find it either...
"All newly remastered from first generation analog sources" according to Super Deluxe Edition: http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/n...mplete-albums-collection-box-set/#more-106528
No... I just bought the Complete Albums Collection 5 discs boxed set TODAY! The one with the first three albums remixed...god I hope these are remixed too for the sake of knowing that I din't waste my money...
This would be a must-purchase for me if the mono stuff was included, but you know damn well that ain't happening. In the unlikely event it was, they'd have mentioned it for sure. The original stereo mixes for the first three albums are a nice bonus if that's what they're using, but I don't dislike the remixes enough to splurge for another big box on that basis alone.
It doesn't look like it, but if these are actually remastered from original master tapes and they're not using the remixed versions, it'll be the first time the original tapes have been used since the bland-sounding Collected Works set in the 90's.
Looks promising, according to the amazon editorial review... The most comprehensive Simon & Garfunkel library anthology ever assembled, The Complete Albums Collection includes the duo's five studio masterpieces (first released between 1964 and 1970), newly remastered from first generation analog sources, and first-time remasters of The Graduate (the groundbreaking motion picture soundtrack album released in 1968) and the long out-of-print The Concert in Central Park (recorded in 1981). (emphasis mine) EDIT: just noticed similar message posted above.
I agree, they really need to include the mono mixes which are usually better, especially with Bookends. (These aren't long albums, they'll fit on one CD with the stereo mixes.) I'm actually not a big Simon & Garfunkel fan, but I love Bookends and it really needs to be heard in the original mono mix and mastered right.
Its funny that not many people gave a rats ass about any of these albums in mono until the past ten years if that. I don't know that mono and I have heard that Bookends is supposed to be FAB and since it was 1868 so many went for the stereo which is also great. In the 70s when I sold records in stores I don't recall one person asking for a mono records in house 5 or so years.. just sayin'
