I decided to write MOFI customer service and they said "nothing currently in the works unfortunately."

I imagine that would change if this one sells well though, like you say.

Interesting. While Parsley Sage Rosemary & Thyme is my favorite album of theirs, it does seem like a strange place to start. Oh well...

I think its the perfect place to start if, as a label, you are just going to do one.

The best overall S&G album imo.

My favorite also. It perfectly captures the 60’s.

Well OK you talked me into it. Just bought one from a seller on an auction site (Importcds) for a total of $25.09 delivered. The auction site had given me a $10 coupon. Supposedly the last one they had to sell They charge a higher price for it on their own web site ($37.98 plus a shipping charge).

That would be out of character for the new MFSL

  14. Booklet with PSRT? Mine did not contain one.

Yep. I wonder how many times Bob Irwin tried to get permission to press Bookends mono for Sundazed. That would have been great. Simon doesn't like the mono. Too bad - it is part of history. He should allow it at least one re-issue.

The AF is my prefered version... but the Mofi isn't bad.

  23. Juxpose for me. MoFi SACD is definitive . . . But the AF isn’t bad.

Simon will not allow mono Bookends release.

"When you hear the original mono, it's slower and it's sloppier. It was improved on the LP, but by then it was already poisoned in my mind." - Paul Simon (1972 Rolling Stone interview)

He has not recanted in recent years but I've not the time or inclination to hunt for those quotes thus leaving you with hope that he has totally changed his mind in the last year or so.

Of course even if Simon has or will do a 360 its plausible the mono tapes are no longer extant:

I've been told by a very reliable source they were destroyed, cut up and thrown out ages ago. The metal reels still exist, just no tape.

I like S&G a lot also -- luckily I have some DolbyA encoded copies of several albums. I happened to have a few examples from 'Bridge' on my repo... Unlike a lot of decoded examples, mine has ZERO intermod between the voices, so they come out totally distinct. I do have three others. including 'Parsley', where my copy has soo much room rumble and hiss without being decoded that it isn't even listenable until doing a DA decode.

There are a few 'BTW' examples in this repo (just ran these for one of my recording engineer friends):
    Hightail Spaces

If anyone is interested, maybe I can run one of the Parsely songs (would be a good basis of comparison to see if the vinyl is done correctly.)
