What are bitrates and sample rates for SACD and DVD-A formats?
    Thanks.

    SACD: 1 bit - 2.88 MHz
    DVD-A: 16/20/24 bit - 44.1/48/96/192 kHz (any combination) I believe...

DVD-A: also 88.2 kHz sampling rate.

I'm sure that I've read of at least one DVD-A release where the stereo program is at 176.4 kHz sample rate. Sample and bit rates for DVD-A are anything but a simple question in my experience, even when you are holding one of the disks in your hand.

Yes, you are right about 176.4 sampling rate - the Jonatha Brooke album is at that rate. It is confusing, but one reason (according to the propaganda) for the scaleable rates is so that it would be easy to port any given PCM recording over without any processing.

It also depends on whether you're talking stereo or surround tracks.

OK, then let's say 192 and 176.4 kHz in Stereo; everything else stereo or multichannel..., right?

Yes, that's how it works. Here is something about the specs, even though it is a bit old:

As I can understand, SACD player will play disc that has been made with lower sample rate than, for an example, 192 KHz, right?

You appear to not have understood the information here about SACD and DSD. Reread the second post by tomcat.

For DVD-A, 192 kHz can only be used for stereo. Multichannel's highest sampling rate is 96 kHz.

You can even use different sampling rates for some channels within a multichannel project. Helps to fit more music on the DVD. It can get rather complex.

I'm afraid you're wrong. SACD is ONLY 1 bit @ 2.88mhz. There are no other options.

My most humble apologies. You're correct, of course.

I meant to quote the second post in this thread, talking about DVD specs. Hit the wrong quote button. I've changed it above.
