    ...does anyone else think that the mono "Pepper" has a much darker sound than the average Parlophone pressing?

    I wouldn't say "murky", exactly... but you know-- thicker??

    I'm thinking it may be due to the amount of tape bouncing done during the recording process... but I don't know... It just seems to have a rather distinctive sound all its own.

    The sides were too long for easy cutting. Compromises had to be made, top end had to be cut, bass had to be cut, etc...

    Thanks, Steve... I figured there was some kind of technical explanation that I just couldn't quite put my finger on.

    I always thought that Side One of the White Album must've been a real bear, too-- that seems like a **really** long album side.
