    Hi all,
my buddy and I were discussing the Police a while back, and how for a band that was so huge- they seem largely invisible. I understand 5 albums only, and the last being 1983 and a "reunion" tour to end the band chapter in what 2005 was it?
I was always surprised at the suggestions that: "everything was released" and that "demos and b sides " never really got a release...(don't most bands have alternate takes, and demos in the vault somewhere?)

So despite my love for the singles- how about a little love for deep cuts... say 3 per album to keep conversation going. What is it that you like about the cuts...

I’m amazed they’re so forgotten now. Barely a cult band.

    Those are some great choices.

    Outlandos D’Amour:
    1. Truth Hits Anybody: Just a farfalootin' slamming tune, Love this track, in my top 5 Police Tunes.
    2. Peanuts: Great Little rockin time, Stewart tears it up on this song, great little bass run and vocals by Sting, Andy is killing it on that six string, seriously that solo is so badass!
    3. Next To You: What a great opener for this album and this band, just a great hooky tune and I’m shocked this was not a single, this has all the makings of a single. Oh well, more for us.
    Reggata de Blanc:
    1. The title track: What a cool ass song, brilliant cymbal work from Mr Stewart Copeland on this song, excellent guitar touches from Andy, great bassline that provides a lot of punch to this track. People do not talk about Sting’s bass playing enough, Guy was a great player.
    2. Bring On The Night: Such a great atmospheric tune, love that little riff Andy plays, I can imagine this being in some dark atmospheric film, this would be great in that kind of tune.
    3. No Time This Time: High charging rocker and Stewart is a psycho on this song. Also check out Anthrax’s cover of this tune.

    1. Driven To Tears: Another knockout, great vibe and playing, great songwriting on Sting’s part and the other two compliment him fantastically.
    2. Behind My Camel: Such a Dark moody atmosphere and a great instrumental.
    3. Man In A Suitcase: Just such a fun number, again, excellent performances from all involved.

    Ghost In The Machine:
    1. Demolition Man: A really awesome track with Andy just tearing it up on the guitar and Stewart equally tearing it up on the kit.
    2. Omegaman: What an awesome song, and I could really hear Rush doing this song musically, you can defintely hear how The Police inspired them around this time. C’mon Sting, this was good enough to be a single, Andy did good and you know it.
    3. Darkness: While the keyboard sound is of its time, this is such a really great ballast type of song where you can’t hwlp but question where things are heading for you. Good one, Stewart.
Also here’s the thread I did on this album:

Driven To Tears: absolutely love the pushed driving feel with the kick drum on the verse section with the syncopated ride - a great vibe. The chorus pulls back perfectly highlighted by the hissing high hat and sparse tom hits and flams.

Secret Journey: Classic Andy Summers arpeggiated notes slightly palm muted in verse section. Copeland keeping it interesting. Classic vocal harmonies.

As cloying as it is, I cannot resist "Man In A Suitcase". The countermelodies of all the instruments on that one are brilliant, especially the bass which I don't think ever once hits the root note. I don't think it's ever been mentioned as anything other than an inferior clone of "Canary In A Coalmine", but I think it's my favorite Police song. I have always liked "Mother".
