Sing Along With Mitch

I remember (as a kid) my father watching this program, talk about simple camera shots, etc, from 1964:

 

Follow the bouncing ball.....! If we had this show today it would be, Rap Along With Mitch!

 

Sing Along With Mitch was required viewing in my house growing up. As a family, we sung along.

After my folks died, one of the few treasures in their record collection were the family's Sing Along With Mitch records. They aren't in great shape and I love every last pop, tick and scratch in them. They're hearth and home to me.

 

My Uncle knew Mitch Miller well and he led the Happy Birthday sing along at my Uncle's 60th BD. Very, very nice guy.

 

Even my parents weren't square enough to watch Sting Along with Itch.

 

No kidding.

It was on once or twice at our house, But was never a thing. That first album and the first Christmas album were VERY popular on Dads high fi And other than some country, my Dad's records were really square. That where I learned Be Kind To Your Web Footed Friends which I sang, and sing with great "vigah"!

 

My Mom loved Mitch's CHRISTMAS ALBUM...she played the hell out of it during the Holidays...I really get super nostalgic when I listen to it...

I remember my parents watching this when I was a kid and I thought it was pretty cool. I had no frame of reference but it was music on TV, along with the sing-a-long and the bouncing ball. For a pre-schooler and elementary schooler, it was fun to watch. It brings back good memories.

not to him, and the fact that he played records was really cool...

 

Love their version of Give Peace a Chance. Really.

 

all this Mitch! now I have to play the Chritmas album before July is thru.

Aim to please, fella.

 

His discography seems to be nearly free of songs that require those pesky royalty payments.

 

I wonder if the Sinatra family ever sat down and watched Mitch's shows...

 

"No!" mama barked.

 

Now THAT would be a show I would love to see.

 

The cat played on a Charlie Parker session, y'know...

 

Let's not forget, he was in charge of A&R at Columbia Records.

Sing Along w/Mitch was on NBC from Jan. '61 to Sept. '66. He was all over the schedule. Tough to pin down his competition.
