"Singing in the Shadows", 2 hour special, was shown on Bravo, about the children of "Rock Royalty".

Anyone else see it? Very interesting pieces on Simon Collins (Phil), Teddy Richards (Aretha Franklin), Sally Taylor (Carly & James), Jason Everly (Phil ), Julian Lennon, Jacob Dylan, (Ozzie Osborne), (Robbie Robertson), James Raymond (David Crosby), A.J. Croce (Jim Croce), Woody/Arlo/Sarah Lee Guthrie and a few more I forgot.

It's a real double edged sword for these "kids". They get doors opened for them, the get instant recognition and in some cases adulation, but then come the inevitable comparisons and high expectations. Later, audiences expecting them to play their parents songs instead of their own.

I guess Julian Lennon was the most high profile of the bunch, and he still has a lot of resentment about the whole thing. Constant questions about their parents everywhere they go, always being billed as "so and so's son/daughter".

I guess that is the price they pay.

If they rerun this, interested folk should check it out.
