This is an interesting one. The first LP was poorly recorded in the first place, so the silver MoFi was like making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. But I'm willing to bet this will be stunning, since it's a Steinman production.

Also, many people have never heard this on vinyl -- it was one of the first CDs to offer bonus tracks on its initial edition which made it much more appealing than the vinyl version to the dollar conscious goth. :)

Look forward to hearing impressions of this one. For me, Floodland is the SoM LP to have.

The original U.S. lp was cut by Dennis King @ Atlantic Studios. It sounds very nice, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be improved. I don't know anything about the original U.K. pressing. I hope someone will be able to compare the Mofi to an original pressing. . .

Actually Jim Steinman only produced 2 songs on Floodland. Dominion/Mother Russia (co-produced with Eldritch) and This Corrosion (produced by Steinman)

Rest of the album (wich I love, by the way) was produced by Eldritch and Larry Alexander.

Great news-thanks for letting us know. Can't wait to hear "1959" on vinyl, as I've only ever owned this album on CD.

Now, now! The Sisters are NOT a goth band!

We are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine.
    We are intellectual love gods.

SoM were awesome, and their sound perfectly captured the essence of the darker side of the Regan/Thatcher era and the cold, isolated feelings experienced by many during this decade, but they weren't "goth" by any stretch. Too many danceable grooves for that.

I always thought Fields of the Nephilim most closely captured the essence of "goth". Everything they did is very dark, heavily influenced by Crowley's writings, and quite convincing (some songs even contain snippets of Crowley speaking). 93 93/93

I didn't realize this still hadn't been released. I guess that explains why I still haven't seen a copy at my local shop

Being vinyl, this would have the shorter version of This Corrosion...

Doesn't matter so much to me, as I have the 12" single from back in '88.

I'm sorta intrigued by the prospect of hearing Doktor Avalanche in audiophile quality...
