No Charlotte Rampling DVD box sets. Or the underrated Susan George, she would have been great in the Wicker Man. Seen a 1967 Brit flick with Nick Drake's sister Gabrielle Drake in it called The Man Outside.

Not the glam girl from a decade prior, but she could act.

Alex, have you ever seen a Michael Reeves (of Witchfinder General fame) film called The Sorcerers? It has a cameo from a very young Susan George. Interesting little horror film, starring Boris Karloff and Ian Ogilvy.

I'll look out for that ...sounds familiar. Aware of the Vincent Price film.

Although the source novel, I Am Legend, predates that of Whistle Down the Wind by some five years. Not sure if the “Are you God?” line appears in the book; I haven’t read it. Either way, he’s not God, he’s just a fella.

Well, that’s ruined the ending for everyone...

Everyone? Hardly. Most people with an interest in classic British cinema will have seen this film already. Even if they haven’t, that line is hardly a revelation. Quite the opposite, in fact. The humour is in the fact that it’s only a revelation to the children in the story, not the viewer.

    The Touchables (1968).
    Drama wrapped in psychedelia.
    Good soundtrack, Pink Floyd,Nirvana.
Film stars Monika Ringwald ( she was also the back cover of a Kinks album), Quentin Tarantino fave siren.

Yes I see your point. That scene where Susannah York munches on the cigar is brutal. This is a dark film :yikes:

"In Celebration" was directed by Lindsay Anderson and it stars Alan Bates and Brian Cox. It was made in 1975 but rest assured, things are still "grim oop North".

I love this genre and the rawness of it. It has an edge of reality that is rarely attained in film. I think the black and white makes them more evocative.
