I'm I the only person thinking about this, seems like a no brainer to me , especially the way Hollywood works these days. what do you think.

Eastwood is probably too busy making his yearly Oscar bait.

In my world, NEVER. Inspector "Dirty" Harry Callahan is a legendary firgure. You can't get freakin' wolverine to play the titular role. That's pure insanity.

There are some films that are untouchable. This is one. At least in my book.

Leave the film alone and come up with something original.

  4. I can't believe you created this thread. I was just telling my wife last weekend that Hugh Jackman could play Harry Callahan.

You better hope it's not a "re-imagination" of Dirty Harry where he's played by The Rock.

I'd like to see John C. Reilly as the monster in a Young Frankenstein remake.

Well, not really -- but I think he'd be perfect to play Frankenstein's monster in something.

Fingers crossed that it would also be a musical.

Why not just have Clint star in the final film of the series? Dirty Harry is a long retired cop and the police department needs his help on an old case and Harry clashes with the young, overly PC police chief, or something like that. It would probably suck, but I'd see it.

Sung to the tune of I'm Just Wild About Harry:

    I'm just wild about Harry
    And Harry's wild about me
    His Smith and Wesson
    Is my Heaven
    Fills me with ecstasy
    Harry, I'm feeling lucky
You make my day to a T
Oh, I'm just wild about Harry
    And he's just wild about
    Magnum shoot 'em outs
    He's just wild about me.

Originally, the plan for what became Gran Torino was meant to be the last Dirty Harry film, after Harry retired. They changed it when they decided the character would be a racist which didn't fit with the Dirty Harry movies.

  15. I'm not sure a movie about a trigger-happy cop would work these days when it's happening for real.

That makes about as much sense to me as Cedric the Entertainer playing Ralph Kramden.

In a related topic, I've thought that Clint Eastwood would have been great as an elderly Bruce Wayne in a live-action Batman Beyond movie (due to failing heart Bruce had to retire as Batman). At the mention of Hugh Jackman, he might also work in the role in a few years too.

However, imagine Clint Eastwood as an elderly Bruce Wayne, and Hugh Jackman as Terry McGuiness (Bruce's successor as Batman and at that point is an experienced as a superhero). With the current onslaught (no pun intended) of superhero movies, it would be interesting to see the above take on Batman.

Hollywood will probably cast Steve Carrell instead, make it a rom-com.
