It's been a long time since I listened to John Denver. And I happened to stumble on "Annie's Song". The sparse arrangement with guitar at the beginning, developing into the full- blown production! Beautiful. I am in the mood for songs in Waltz time. Any favorites at the moment?

Probably not my favourite but August October kicks off Robin's Reign and it's the first one I thought of:

A popular song written by legendary songwriter Sonny Throckmorton. This version is by Emmylou Harris. Most people remember TG Sheppard's hit version. Johnny Duncan also recorded a version of this song in his prime.

Now, you've got me listening over and over to Sonny's version. His voice is so unique. Although he made great money from his songs, he should be a star.

  24. "Golden Brown" by the Stranglers is a nice one, although it switches to 7/8 every few bars so be careful if you actually try to waltz to it.

Philly DJ on the big MOR AM station in the late '60s would feature a spot on his show called "Waltz Time". He would introduce the feature and some Strauss would start playing, followed by the DJ asking,"Hey,Walt! What time is it?" Walt would respond with the time check, followed by the tag:"Ladies and gentleman, you've been listening to Walt's Time." Oh,how I long for the stupid days of radio when it was simply fun. I was a sucker for Walt's Time.
Oh,and I would nominate Mason Williams' The Last Great Waltz, from Ear Show. It's part of Mason's Dada Trilogy, which,of course, has five parts.
