She had a hit with a cover of "Warm Leatherette"... not sure if that's what you're thinking of.

Beach Boys - "Don't Worry Baby"

Well, the car wreck hasn't happened, but it's what the singer's worried about.

I believe "Sister Morphine" can be interpreted as the aftermath of a car accident. There are obviously other interpretations.

I can't remember the name of the song or the artist but the chorus goes something like this:

Oh where oh where has my baby been
the Lord took her away from me.
She's gone to heaven, so I've got to be good.
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

"Last Kiss." Thanks to the number of times it's been recorded, it's probably the most famous of the "teenage gooey death songs."

Yeah I remember hearing this song a couple years ago on the syndicated
Dr. Demento show. I remember being really creeped out.

Killer Cars by Radiohead is about singer Thom Yorke's fear of cars

"I couldn't cope if you crashed today, so many things I forgot to say"

"Lock me up in the back of a trunk, packed with foam and blind drunk, they won't ever take me alive, cause they all drive Killer Cars".

Perhaps the best known example of Yorke's car paranoia is the opening track to their masterpiece Ok Computer. The song is called "Airbag".

"In a fast German car, I'm amazed that I survived, an airbag saved my life".

Pearl Jam covered this song a couple years ago and got a hit from it. I couldn't turn on the radio without hearing it.

"Don't Crash the Car Tonight"--Mary's Danish (reverse psychology!:) )

"Don't Pass Me By"--Beatles ("you were in a car crash/and you lost your hair..." )

"Honey"--Bobby Goldsboro ("She wrecked the car, and she was sad/and so afraid that I'd be mad, but what the heck..."). The crash did not cause poor Honey's ultimate demise. We never really find out what happened, all we know is that one day "the Angels came." Apparently, Honey was...um...entertaining the starting line-up of the Anaheim baseball team! :D

    The Doors -- "Peace Frog"

    Recall the lyrics:

Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding
Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile, eggshell mind

I can't help but think of the scene at the beginning of The Doors movie.

Jason, that M.O.D. songs is a blast from the past. I bought that CD in high school and still have it. It's been a long time since I gave that one a listen.

    "The Accident" by John Prine.

A car accident as a metaphor for life.

  23. Trans-Island Skyway - Donald Fagen (from Kamakiriad)

    "Say, there's a wreck
On the side of the road
Lots of blood and broken glass
    The kid who was driving
    I know from somewhere
Some kids just drive too fast
    Wait just a minute
    There's a beautiful survivor
With dancer's legs and laughing eyes
C'mon snakehips, it's all over now
Strap in tight cause it's a long sweet ride "
