Taylor Swift's Back To December does have nostalgic lyrics although it is about Taylor Lautner

I've never heard of Rasputina or Melora Creager before, but this isn't bad.

You might like the '80s band Shelleyan Orphan, which were similar as I recall. Here's Cavalry of Cloud, for starters ...

"Buffalo Springfield Again" - Neil Young

Used to play in a rock 'n roll band,
    But they broke up
We were young and we were wild
    It ate us up
Now I'm not saying who was right or wrong

Looking out on a big green lawn,
    Girls and boys
    Playing in the afternoon sun,
    And life's a joy
I heard an old song playing on a radio

    Buffalo Springfield again

Like to see those guys again
    And give it a shot
Maybe now we can show the world
    What we got
But I'd just like to play for the fun we had

    Buffalo Springfield again

    Schooldays – Gentle Giant
Lakeside Park - Rush (Which four sticks already mentioned)
Jets At Dawn – Be Bop Deluxe
Going Back – Carole King or Nils Lofgren
When We Were Fab – George Harrison
Ten Years Gone – Led Zeppelin
As Tears Go By – Rolling Stones (sort of)

And I agree with Ringmaster_D that Good Old Days (and possibly a few others…Sentimental Favorite, Zavelow House, The Homecoming Song, Uncle John’s Farm) from Owsley’s first album are good choices.
