A few years ago, I'd received a gift of a "map" with all sorts of song street/location names...and it's framed in my listening room. You can find more on this item here, including the full list of titles. It has been updated as of 2018, details and sale info here. The makers have a Spotify playlist here.
cool ... i could look at that for hours .... and just might .... There's a thread for you. "How many good 45 minute albums can you make out of this map!"
James Taylor - Sweet Baby James - mentions the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston etc. Simon & Garfunkel - America - a song about traveling and thoroughfares in a broader sense mentioning among other things the New Jersey Turnpike, and hitchhiking from Saginaw etc.
How about Thunder Road? Is that a real road? I'm asking b/c I have no idea, but thought for sure it would have been mentioned already.
I'm sure there are real Thunder Roads out there, but in the context of the song Bruce got the title from a Robert Mitchum film he saw the movie poster for. It's metaphorical for the song.
