He doesn't get quite the accolades Mom does, but he's certainly been represented in song...

"Oh Mein Papa" - Eddie Fisher
    "My Dad" - Paul Petersen
"Color Him Father" - The Winstons
"Your Dad Did" - John Hiatt
    "My Father" - Judy Collins
"Adam Raised A Cain" - Bruce Springsteen
"Father And Son" - Cat Stevens
"Cat's In The Cradle" - Harry Chapin
    "Dear Dad" - Chuck Berry
"Song For My Father" - Horace Silver
    "Daddy" - Sammy Kaye
"Daddy Sang Bass" - Carl Perkins

Any other suggestions for the day?

Not too many better than Luther Vandross' new "Dance with my Father".

    Best one I ever heard

Is the recent tune by Paul Simon. Maybe I'm a sucker for it cause I am an older new dad with a baby girl like him. Still, he really nails it.

    Cheers!
    Norm

PS: Hiatt's "Your Dad Did" is amazing...

    Agree on both counts!
The Paul Simon track is from the first Wild Thornberrys movie last year. Great song, kinda makes me misty eyed. Simon wrote a beautiful song to his first son years ago. "St. Judy's Comet" was it?

Another touching father song is "Hold Me My Daddy" by XTC.

I think I started a thread just like this last year...:)

PS: Hope you're having a fantastic first daddy's day Norm!

Oh yeah. And "Goodnight My Angel (Lullabye)" by Billy Joel writen for his daughter:

"Goodnight my angel, now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry, and if you sing this lullabye
Then in your heart, there will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone, but lullabyes go on and on
They never die, that's how you and I will be"

The song "Pals Forever Dad" from Jim Henry's 1995 disc entitled "Jacksonville" on Signature Sounds.

The entire disc is amazing. Check it out if you like folk/rock like John Prine, Bruce Cockburn, JT, etc.
