Such a shame , these innocent, exotic, wild animals were the victims of double "domestic violence"....
Sorry, not funny. Most of them have been shot, through no fault of their own.
Wings - "Wild Life"
I agree...I can't imagine the sickness that would cause somebody to let those animals loose in a populated area, before killing himself. Of course I can't imagine why someone would want to have animals like these in a non-zoo situation like that.

Run For Your Life
Since they shot most of them... Sad
Yes. Those bozos even killed black bears. WTH? I find it hard to believe that the "authorities" could not tranquilize more of these animals.
Some are endangered. Shame on folk that make jokes about this.
Sweet ~ Fox On The Run
I don't have a song for the animals, but I have an opinion on the subject.
I'm not sure why some people have issues with the way it was handled. There is no reason for a police officer/zoo worker/citizen to put his/her life, or the lives of others in the community in danger in order to capture a wild animal instead of using the safest way possible to contain the threat (i.e. shoot it from a safe distance). The loss of 48 exotic animals is not in anyway comparable to the loss a family would feel had one of their loved ones been harmed by one of these animals. It is the duty of the public safety authorities to protect human life, not the sensitivities of animal rights activists. It's time people take things into perspective.
It is clear that the authorities are as usual incompetent. It is not a difficult task to tranquilize these animals. They should have known that these animals were being kept by the jerk that freed them. They should have been ready for a situation where one of the animals had gotten loose...but as usual...
They killed black bears. You yell boo at a black bear and they run like hell. They were clearly incompetent.
You are way off base saying they handled the situation in a professional manner.
Unfortunately, shooting them was the only way to handle the situation. My point was I found no humor in this thread.
I have insufficient information to form a view on the appropriateness of the actions of the local authorities, but this thread is disgraceful. Grow up.
I disagree. The animals could have been tranquilized if the idiots that shot them had been ready for such a situation. I am sure they had no problem taking additional tax revenues from the owner but do they do anything to prepare themselves in case of an emergency? No.
Shooting them was the easiest way to end the situation. In addition, why would they have to shoot black bear or some of the other animals that were not dangerous? I encounter black bears all the time and all it takes is a loud yell to scare them off.
