While not a big fan of the songs or of the band, that is always how I have heard them on the radio, together

Not so much anymore. But when Abraxas came out, the gap between the end of Gypsy Queen and Oy Como Va was maybe 1 second.
Several times I heard them back to back (or a too-late fade on OCV after 5-6 seconds). Once the dj even said that he had no intention of playing both, but he hoped we enjoyed it.

The song “Amie” by Pure Prairie League is often preceded by “Falling In and Out Of Love”

I live in Vancouver and can vouch for the fact that the songs are almost always played back to back on the radio.

    A few more:
Phish: Tweezer is always followed later in the same show by Tweezer (Reprise)
Phish: Mike's Song is always followed later in the same show by Weekapaug Groove
Phish: The Horse is almost always immediately followed by Silent In the Morning

Good one. I don't hear either on the radio, but the songs are just meant to be played back to back!

This is an interesting case because it just about always shows up in its' original form on compilations (and there are a LOT of Guess Who compilations!): tied together as they were originally.

Oldies radio play, of course, is a different animal, and if the station didn't have a service that made sure only single-edit versions of many songs were provided to station clients, an enterprising employee (most likely one who didn't know what he was doing half the time because he would be too young to know the material by heart) would have to go a search out the "proper" version for airplay.

Not saying it's impossible, of course, but you do want to know what you're doing, lest you mess with people's memories (and if you think sticking the "Go Your Own Way" like of a Fleetwood Mac song into a gastric product commercial makes fans mad, try "insisting" they remember the whole songs of their youth differently).

:kilroy: Of interest: There was a brief period in late 1969, when one was more likely to hear "Living Loving Maid" individually on the radio, (at least on the AM band) as it was the B-side of the hit "Whole Lotta Love." Needless to say, that's how it was being heard in Jukeboxes across the country.

I've been wondering about GBV. Over the Neptune / Mesh Gear Fox... they are two different songs, but they are combined into one track on Propeller. So that doesn't really count.

Does Bob play any songs back to back on a regular basis in concert?

I may be out of date on this but I think whenever he (rarely) plays "Meeting Across The River" he normally follows it with "Jungleland." Once in the fanzine Backstreets they mentioned it was notable when he followed "Meeting" with "Backstreets" instead.
