Ramones - "Do You Remember Rock n Roll Radio"

...it's the end, the end of the '70s..

  3. "Theme from Shaft" - Issac Hayes. Cited for egregious use of "cat", "chicks", "brother man", and "dig it".

The Beatles' The Ballad of John & Yoko was dated before it was even released.

If chicks, dig it, etc. are dated in the 60s, this makes "Chicks Dig It" by country singer Chris Cagle from the early 2000s dated right on the spot.

Also, This Ain't Dallas by Hank Williams, Jr. refers to the TV shows "Dallas" and "Dynasty."

In the case of songs mentioning Vietnam, there is Copperhead Road by Steve Earle from 1988.

For those who think that most Woody Guthrie songs fit this thread, most Pete Seeger songs fit this thread as well. Even lots of Arlo Guthrie songs would fit.

Kantner must have expected something major in 1975 (see "Ride the Tiger")...at least J.S. got a major hit album that year!

Please append the terms "pretty mama" to that list. I'm also none too fond of the people asking to be referred to as "yo' daddy". Kinda gives me the creeps.

So, I guess I'm calling out 'Black Water' by the Doobies.

When I hear "Signs" by Five Man Electrical Band come on the radio I am reminded about hippy protest era stuff even though I am a generation X-er.

"She's So Modern" by Boomtown Rats: "She's so 20th Century, she's so 1970s..."

Chic has a couple - in "Good Times," they reference "Clams on the half shell, and roller skates, roller skates" - yes, I'm sure people still eat clams and roller skate, but roller skating had its ultimate moment in the '70s. Also, in "Le Freak," they reference Studio 54: "Come on down, to the '54..."

Any song with metrical verse and accurate rhymes is definitely dated.
