He's So Fine could be sung by a guy by just changing he to she and boy to girl, but a song like Someday Soon by Judy Collins could only be sung by a woman. I couldn't imagine a man singer having the nerve to sing about following his gal anywhere and attending her rodeo shows. What other 'one-sex-only' songs are there?

I saw on TV Neil Sedaka sing "Where The Boys Are." Sure, he has the right to sing his own song but it just seemed weird. Besides, on one can sing it like Connie anyway...

I never could accept Joan Baez's "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" especially when she sings "Virgil Caine is my name..." How many women do you know are named Virgil? And "Like my father before me, I'm a working man..." She could have changed it to "Like my mother before me, I'm a working, nah, that doesn't work. ;) :D

Oh, you KNOW that's what he's singing about. :D
Maybe we should start a thread on that subject. The Aerosmith is pretty obvious. How about "Pink Thing" by XTC. Or "Richard" by Pete Ham.

The funny thing about Baez's version is that the lyrics in the original version by the Band go "Like my Father before me, I will work the land".
