"The Confessions Of Doctor Dream And Other Stories" by Kevin Ayers; in particular -
"The Confessions Of Doctor Dream (a) Irreversible Neural Damage (b) Invitation (c) The One Chance Dance (d) Doctor Dream Theme
    and
"It Begins With A Blessing / Once I Awakened / But It Ends With A Curse"

    - sweet dreams are not necessarily made of these. :)

Sorry if this is already posted. Usually takes me right back to the ending of the movie, "Choke" though it tends to send the mind wandering.

Not sure if this complete album has been mentioned in this thread or not but I think George Harrison's LP "Wonderwall Music" has a dreamy atmosphere. It's mostly instrumental with a few vocals here and there. Put it on, turn the lights down very low, take a sip of something nice, close your eyes and see what you think.

I know this is one of those albums that are either loved or hated with not many in the middle ground but it is a special album for me. It is a unique mixture of eastern and western music. If anyone knows of another album that sounds close to this please let me know what it is. Happy listening.

Natacha Atlas: Foretold in the Language of Dreams definitely bears a similarity to Wonderwall Music at least in spirit and in terms of mixing east and west. Extremely atmospheric and dreamy.

Also try the following albums by Lisa Gerrard:

    Samsara

    The Trail of Genghis Khan

    Twilight Kingdom

    Balibo

There is a Gerrard - Harrison connection in the song Indus on the Dead Can Dance album Spiritchaser. The band claimed back then that they drifted into playing Within You Without You by accident, and honestly, they didn't even know this song. They had to give Harrison a co-writing credit. Still a magnificent track.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have some Lisa Gerrard releases and enjoy them. Hadn't thought about the work being similar but I think you are right.
I really like this blending of cultures and it can result in some unique sounds.

It doesn't quite reach the heights of 'Tuesday Afternoon' but 'On Tuesday' by Men Without Hats isn't bad for atmosphere...
