Even the most obvious choice (Close to the Edge) predated Supper's Ready.

Get the mono version of "I'm Henry The 666th", arguably much better.

Some more early German experimental rock ones:

    Kluster: Kluster 1 (1969-70)
    Kluster: Kluster 2 (1969-70)
Kluster: Electric Music & Text (1970-71)
    Kluster: Kluster 4 (1970-71)
    Kluster: Eruption 1 (1971)
    Kluster: Eruption 2 (1971)
    Cluster: (Track 3) (1971)
    Tangerine Dream: Alpha Centauri (1971)
Popol Vuh: In den Gärten Pharaos (1971)
    Popol Vuh: Vuh (1971)

Probably lots more but that's from a look at my shelf.

Many thanks to all who replied so far.
For semplicity sake i asked for other examples of early side-long songs that rarely get mentioned, but if someone wants to list, say, a 16-minute song which is not the only one on its LP side, is welcome.
I just wanted to make an idea of how many long, articulated songs, mainly rock-progressive rock-psychedelic have been issued predating Supper's Ready, which many people - incorrectly - believe to be the first side-long LP track ever released.
I'm not speaking of you forum experts, i'm speaking of the common music listeners who usually don't pay much attention to the details.

Jazz-fusion is a totally different kind of thing: i have (and love) John Coltrane A Love Supreme, Miles Davis Bitches Brew and some others, it has always been a common practice for jazz musicians to go beyond the usual canons and record extended pieces of 15-20-25 minutes, so i would leave jazz records off this particular thread.

Now i think i'm going to buy some of the albums you kindly listed...

Rush - The Fountain of Lamneth, which would be a precursor to the side-long masterpiece on the next album--2112. Cygnus X-1 on Hemispheres is another one...

  11. Here are 3 psych prog rock songs that fill whole sides and are rarely mentioned here.

The Sweet Smoke LP Just A Poke was released in 1970 and contains just two tracks, side one is Baby Night and side two is Silly Sally.

On the 1972 album Speech by Steamhammer, side one is an over 22 minute long song titled Penumbra.

If you're going to lower the bar like that, I'll mention Procol Harum's In Held 'Twas I (1968), which took up the bulk of the second side of Shine On Brightly at seventeen and a half minutes and is considered an influential piece of proto-prog.

A lot of these early side-long epics were merely extended jams or improvisations.

Maybe we should just list side-long songs (or suites).

That's totally subjective though isn't it. To me & probably thousands of people around the world, the bizarre, otherworldy & brilliant "Vuh" by Popol Vuh for example is as much a "song" as something equally brilliant by say, Genesis or Donna Summer.

Isn't "I'm a Man" a full side on CTA album? Also "MacArthur Park" medley by Summer, though strictly speaking it's four songs.

"Curtain Call" takes up all of side 3 of the Damned's Black Album. I believe it's patterned on "Echoes".

Just check Klaus Schulze's albums and you will find out that it's almost an exception when there's more than one track on each side.
