Going back to Big Audio Dynamite: their first album's first track, Medicine Show, has a very lengthy bit of dialogue appropriated from Sergio Leone's The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.

Pink Floyd’s “Nobody Home” has a clip from Gomer Pyle, U.S.MC. You can hear Gomer and Sgt. Carter talking. I wonder which episode it is. There is clever timing of Gomer’s “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise” after Roger sings the line about not being able to get thru on the telephone.

Many samples on the source album, So Tough, but I think the most effective is an exchange from Made, a 1972 British film starring Roy Harper, which starts this track.

That same clip is used in Tom Clay's 1971 hit pastiche "What the World Needs Now Is Love/Abraham, Martin and John."

It also features a short excerpt of Martin Luther King's last speech ("I've been to the mountaintop"), RFK's reaction to King's assassination, Ted Kennedy speaking at RFK's funeral, a radio broadcaster reacting to JFK's assassination in Dallas, some kind of Army film/recording from the Vietnam era, and a recording of a Chicago priest/minister asking kids the meaning of segregation, bigotry, hatred, and prejudice. (Years ago, I knew where Clay got that from, but I've forgotten, and no one else seems to care.)

Clay wanted to use Walter Cronkite's announcement of JFK's death, but CBS News wouldn't let him, so it was re-recorded verbatim for the single.

Manic Street Preachers used to love adding soundbites from films, documentaries and archival interviews interviews into their songs.

Most memorably they sampled from "The Machinist" ( "Peeled Apples"), "The Virgin Suicides" ( "Doors Closing Slowly"), "1984" ( "Faster"), "The Medusa Touch" ("Ready for Drowning") and "A Streetcar Named Desire" ( "Little Baby Nothing"). Although the latter sample was subsequently removed from later copies as it hadn't been cleared!
