Here I Go - Syd Barrett

Actually, this song had already been written in 1967 when the Floyd recorded Arnold Layne, as Joe Beard (The Purple Gang) states in his autobiography Taking The Purple. . The version on Madcap (1970) fades out at 3:11 while you hear the backing band getting in some jam at the end. I wondered for decades what that could lead into. In 2010 a remixed version was released, with added bass by Gilmour, and while it still unnecessary fades out it now takes 3:25. If you crank up your amplifier at 11 you can hear the song's real ending though... So that 'unknown jam' at the end I was wondering about for 4 decades only went on for about 15 seconds. I'm still pissed at Gilmour though for the fade-out...

I don't think any song should never end, but I'd sure love it if Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door" had a few more (different) verses.

"Caroline, No" and "Til I Die". Lovely to listen to but painfully short.

    whodanny The Who ! THAT'S WHO !!

Pretty much all of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' first album. So many great songs but all just a little bit too short.
Also, the "mini" opera in The Who's Endless Wire album seems to contain just "excerpts" of the songs rather than the full finished song. Note the "bonus" versions of "We Got A Hit" and "Endless Wire". Do full versions of the other songs exist?.

The first one that came to my mind is Eight Miles High. That psychedelia should go on forever . . . at least for me.

At 2:33 it's way, way too short. When I got this 45 my record player was a stacker, and if you left the arm that stabilized the stack of records OFF and over to the right the player would repeat the record over and over. I would put this song on in the morning while getting ready for school over and over until I was ready to go. Whenever I play it now I still have to repeat it at least 4 or 5 times, digitally of course.

That Sax...it's heaven! "gonna blow for ya". Give a listen (it's only 2 minutes), you'll be hooked.

There's the alternate mix of "Til I Die" from the Endless Harmony Soundtrack that extends the length to 4:52. Pretty enjoyable.

First one in my head is "Aquamarine" by Santana. A dreamy instrumental that feels like it could go on forever. I've thought about trying to edit into an extended version.

Yes, the Stephen Desper mix and it is very enjoyable. I wonder if there's an extended mix in the vaults of "Caroline, No"?

I could listen to the piano coda of “Layla” forever. Also Gilmour’s blistering guitar solo on “Fat Old Sun”.
