If there is a song to cause my hearing to finally cease, it would be this one (Dance On A Volcano). Thunderous, brutal, precise, wake-the-neighbors great!

Bad Reputation - Thin Lizzy (with the underrated Brian Downey on drums)

    "Like A Virgin" - Madonna
Of course, it depends on which mastering you hear.

I know what you mean... that crazy drum hit in the chorus. Pretty kickass :)

Hypnotized just has SUCH a great rhythm track.

REM - How the west was won, 1st track on New Aventures in Hifi has a great drum intro. Best part of the album.

Venom - Manitou (12" Version) ... also sounds great on the "At War With Satan" remastered CD.

The Clash, "I Fought The Law"

Andrew Cyrille on Jimmy Lyons' Other Afternoons. Heavy compression doesn't usually suit this area of music, but it works surprisingly well here.

Great album! The DVD-A is a pleasure to listen to...

The first track on XTC's Nonsuch, "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead" has a killer drum sound at the beginning as well.

Wow. 5 pages and nobody has mentioned my favorite:
Procol Harum "Bringing Home The Bacon".

Add to this, the Who's Quadrophenia. Probably the best recorded example of Moon's drums, IMO.
The drums at the intro of "Bell Boy" are thunderous.

That Power Station album is really a good choice. I cannot recall an album where the drums are so out in front, really (except maybe some lame drummer album like Virgil Donati's or something).

Opening drums on Hugh Masekela's Stimela (The Coal Train) from the Hope album will pound the system pretty well!
Seem to recall I Know Im Losing You from MFSL CD of Rod Stewart Every Picture being pretty bombastic especially toward the end.
Drums on Mad Seasons Artificial Red are also not too shabby.
Barry Diaments Zep CDs always please in the drum dept too.
Barrys AC/DC Who Made Who (especially title track) has some powerful drums too.

The 8 drum kicks at the beginning of Be My Baby : there's a facinating Phil Spector interview about it.

Every track on The Wedding Present's "Valentina" had a great thumping drum sound! I don't think I've enjoyed the boom-bap on any other recent album as much as I did on that one.
