    Deep Purple...
    One Man's Meat
    Black & White (maybe)
Space Truckin' (definitely the live versions)

In terms of studio recordings, I believe they did it once with "One Man's Meat" on Blackmore's last Deep Purple album in 1993.
It comes in loud and clear at the very end of the song, and ironically, everyone but Blackmore plays on the ending (which fades out).

    I'd agree.

I'm listening to jazz88.org's Saturdays Latin Grooves, they are focusing in on bongo artists right now.

Just listened to Jack Costanzo's "malaguena" that was way cool, man. :righton:

"Fingertips" - Pt 1, by Little Stevie Wonder.

I think Stevie plays 'em on the live track.

  14. Yes, those are congas, but the player is not really heavy-handed.

I hope it is not posted before.

  16. This tune is wrongly called "Conga Twist", as the percussion instrument heard is clearly a bongo set.

I believe Willie Bobo was the bongoist.

I like bongos but feel they are often poorly recorded and poorly played for that matter in pop music. They really can be used semi virtuosically as a lighter toned analogue to the India tablas with an intricate chattering style using different fingers and knuckles.

  19. That's what I think of most bongo and cowbell recordings in a context other than a Salsa band. Those instruments are essential in that music, and you'll find plenty of "authoritative" bongo and cowbell playing on any recording by a professional Salsa band. Not virtuosic, but with plenty of conviction and punch.

I love the bongos in Frank Sinatra's LUCK BE A LADY TONIGHT. It's so 'hip' for the time!
