Apologies if this has been asked before (I did a search and couldn't find anything), but what songs can you think of with long intros? The first two that come to mind are Stairway to Heaven and Baba O'Riley, but to be honest I don't know which one has the longer intro, or if there are other songs that may be longer. Any ideas?

The version of The Pusher on Early Steppenwolf takes about 15 minutes before the vocal enters.

I was going to say this. In fact, on Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, fully 26 minutes are instrumental intros and only 48 minutes are the bodies of the 18 songs on the album. Disintegration is likely even more.

Yep, done this before. Hard to beat Handy by Wishbone Ash. Approx 9min 30sec before the vocals start!

Quite a few from Dire Straits
    • Tunnel of Love
    • Telegraph Road
    • Once Upon A Time In The West

    Elton John
    • Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding
    • Tonight

Genesis - Watcher of the Skies (and many others)

ELP - Karn Evil 9 (and many others)

Almost any prog group or jam band will have numerous examples. I've found the Bowie, Who, Mellencamp, etc. titles interesting because they're generally not known for long drawn out instrumental tracks.

Lean On Me by Red Box builds for a while before the vocals come in.

Swamp Thing by the Chameleons too.

Push by the Cure is usually my go-to for this category ...

Damn, you beat me to it xD

I love what they did with the song, though.

That song came to mind too. The musicianship is top notch, but they play the same damn riff over and over again.
