The Cure's 'Love Cats' definitely springs to mind, as does Brian May's 'Sleepy Blues'. The Beastie Boys also wrote 'Fight For Your Right' while drunk.

In all fairness, for some songs that called for it, Jim put in his best by not being drunk.

Compare Crystal Ship to The Changling for instance.

Jim did take some of his musical art seriously, at least at the beginning.

Gordon Lightfoot's catalogue up until 1983.

He's quiet open about how he used alcohol as fuel for his writing.

Paul McCartney's vocal on "C Moon" sounds like he's either drunk or stoned (or both).

Vocals were recorded after a large amount of vodka. 'Never again' said Andy Partridge afterwards.

Speaking of the Doors, all 4 were hammered on the unofficial 16 minute Rock is Dead from 1969.

U2's Crumbs From Your Table. I remember an interview with Larry (I believe) who stated he had no recollection of the song being written. It just 'appeared' in the studio.

Bono and the Edge wrote this after a night of drinking. Bono recalls in the book U2 by U2: "We were out, it was very late, the sun was coming up. I'm not a late-night person, but Edge is like an owl. He would just sit there and days could go by and he wouldn't need sleep. So he didn't want to go to bed and we ended up getting the guitar and singing, off our faces, one of those moments where two mates are not talking sense but they're doing it at the same time and then, eventually, it sort of coagulates into a thought and out came this beautiful song, words, title, melody, boom, it all arrived in the middle of this lunatic night."

I have read multiple stories about Bon Scott of AC/DC drunk and drinking while recording Jailbreak. I am sure that’s not the only one.

The one where Phoebe Snow? got enough of it on cassette tape to play back for Papa?

I figure many of Keith Richard's hooks were entered into his cassette recorder with no recall, for umpteen reasons, when he played it back
