Who hasn’t listened to this amazing music, with headphones, while lost in the incredible artwork of Roger Dean, as a bonus?

    Then, close your eyes...

I find many of My Morning Jacket songs to be that way. For some reason I find it easy to get "into" their songs and once "in" I do like to hang out :)
The imagery from Okonokos doesn't hurt either ;)

Lately for me, its been the 20 minute opener on the Virginia Wing / XAM Duo Tomorrow's Gift record, "Birch Polygon", the vinyl sounds really nice, with big billowy clouds of sound ... I know, hard to get too lost on a youtube video, but still fun ...

The most recent piece that meets the OP's criterion, IMHO. I first heard this through the Olympic Games.

I started to say this, but changed my mind. Some songs have a perfect beginning, middle and end. Yeah you want to hear them again and again, but since the end is so good you kinda WANT them to end.

It's the longer more proggy type songs that create an atmosphere that you can get 'lost' in. Pink Floyd comes to mind. I would also say a lot of the longer Opeth and Porcupine Tree songs are like that for me.

I was just re-listening to Van Morrison's "Madame George" yesterday and got the feeling mentioned in the thread title. I get the same feeling of overwhelming beauty every time I listen:
