Sonny Rollins: The Freelance Years box - how does it sound?

I'm thinking of getting this box set. It was remastered in 2000 by Kirk Felton with tape transfers and editing by Dave Luke. It collects the "freelance years" when Sonny recorded albums for Riverside and Contemporary.

I was wondering how it compared to the original OJC's, the K2's, etc. Steve's done some of the music on CD and vinyl for DCC and APO, but I want the whole thing, alternate takes and all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
