I'm having trouble diagnosing weak drive torque. I have serviced the reel motors and they seem to be in good shape. The AC motor voltage seems OK but not sure about the motor caps. I can't adjust the back tension torque in FWD or REV to specs. Rewind is poor in and also FF. I'd appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks donreed2
While SHF is hands-down the best forum on the web for music related questions, it is often not the best place if you are asking highly-technical trouble-shooting type questions. For tape related diagnostic type questions like this, I would recommend that you think about joining tapeheads.net. That said, I'd say that your motor-run caps would be the first thing that I would suspect.
