I noticed the classic "I Get Lifted" on page 1. Here is my favorite George McCrae tune, "You Got My Heart"

Always a good time for a Dorothy Moore ballad.

The harmony, especially on the line "I've made up my mind", just melts me.

Maybe my favorite 70s soul tune of all. That chorus! Ashford & Simpson wrote this. "It Should Have Been A Hit Record!"
"Don't Send Nobody Else" Ace Spectrum (1974)

O.V. Wright - Ace Of Spades. Trivia time - Robert Cray as been using this song as his concert "intro" music for at least the last 10 years (perhaps more).

A couple of great examples on mid-60s CanCon music.
I heard this earlier today on AM740 Zoomer Radio Toronto ON, for the
first time in a long time:

"Put You Down" - (Tommy Graham and) The Big Town Boys 1968,
    who were backing musicians for...

This one just arrived in the post:
    1986 USA pressing.

Very well recorded live concert in Ghana in '71. All the performances are pretty smokin. Roberta Flack sends shivers down my spine. Missed out on the gatefold that came with orignal pressing, but aside from that this reissue is no slouch - flat quiet vinyl, and good mastering job by Dennis King.

    Next up from same package:
    1973 USA "Kendun" pressing...

Curious about these Kendun pressings for awhile - have a good rep with the Forum Members. Not disappointed. Compared to my Aussie reissue - it's a different record! Hearing all kinds of new detail and depth, and the bass is huuuuge! The textured sleeve is much nicer too. The music of course is par excellence. But if you're reading this thread that's probably no news flash.

Playing Don Fagen, Morph the cat. Super smooth soul/funk from one of classiest chaps around. The albums obviously steely dan and thats why its so darn good.

Record #3 from this weeks package:
1982 USA pressing - small notch cut, but STILL SEALED!:wiggle:

One knockout tune after another from the reverend. Just learnt some new vital vinyl collecting knowledge - the name "John Matousek". This pressing is phenomenal! Had me examining the deadwax after first play. A little googling revealed who the etched initials "jm" stood for. Turns out his cuts have many fans on this forum too. I can hear why.

    1987 USA compilation reissue.

    Ughhhh...Ghastly frickin 80's graphics.
Great tunes though, and sparkling sound. What do you know, it's Matousek on the lathe again. The man knows how to cut R&B.

Nice punning. I've never heard a Hi records pressing in the flesh, what's the vinyl quality like?

Well, I was more into things other than SQ back then but I can assure you they inspired many a dance move and a few tears.
