    Hi folks,

Does anyone here have experience with Sound Lab speakers, particularly the 845PX, 945PX, or U-1PX?

Do they have adequate bass for jazz, pop, and folk music?
Do they have any quality control issues?
How do they compare with the likes of Martin Logan and Quad?

    Thanks in advance!

They sure have a wonderful reputation for sound quality. I'm sorry to say, I've never had an opportunity to hear them. You might like to check out the Sound Lab Owner's Group.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll have a look there.

Meanwhile, if anyone has any info here, please post.

    Thanks!

One last thought . . . I'm not sure any electrostat is the right choice if pop is a big part of your listening. In my experience, most pop recordings do not benefit from a revealing speaker. They rely on a lot of manipulation during recording/mastering, and the effect is better if that's blurred over a little by the speaker. I've been criticized for saying that recent pop recordings sound better on a car radio than a high-end system, but I stand by that remark.

Jazz and folk are usually a different matter, IME -- they are less manipulated during recording and sound better as they are.

    Thanks, Mike!

Yes, I've heard they're not the best for pop, heavy metal, etc. Fortunately, those are not my tastes. Traditional country, acoustic jazz, and classical are among the favorite categories.
