Records that sound so much like another artist:

Andy Kim's "Rock Me Gently" sounds like Neil Diamond.

Bob Crewe Generation's "Music To Watch Girls By" sounds so much like the Tijuana Brass that Herb Alpert used to included it in his concert medley of "songs that have been good to us."

    Others?

The lead vocalist of Greta Van Fleet sounds like Janis Joplin on their “A Change is Gonna Come” cover. No suprises though, Janis is an influence for Robert & him.

A lot of the stuff from Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and Genesis all sound very similar.

Can’t forget America’s ‘Horse with No Name’ sounded like Neil Young.

And when I first heard Camouflage’s “The Great Commandment,” I swore it was Depeche Mode.

Sounds a lot like Jim Morrison and The Doors to me.

I've heard that so many times over the years, but to my ears anyway it doesn't. It didn't back in '71 and it doesn't now. Just listened to it moments ago to see if maybe it would change my mind, but nope.

There is an anecdotal story that Neil heard it on the radio and thought it was one of his songs. Easy story to circulate in those days, but I know I’m not alone in thinking it was him back then.

Yup, you're certainly not alone. Maybe my ears need a little adjustment, lol.

I've mentioned this one before and have been told I'm crazy but I'll say it again: some of the verses of Elvis Costello's "Watching the Detectives" sounds like Prince to me. No one else seems to hear the similarities but me - but everytime I listen to that song I keep thinking of Prince.

I'm with you. It never sounded like Neil Young singing to me. Even the music part did not sound like a Neil song.

I've never seen this mentioned before, but to my ears, Vini Reilly sounds exactly like Genesis P'Orridge.

Heart's "Barracuda" is a big rip-off of Led Zeppelin's "Achilles Last Stand" --- the main running guitar groove, the changes, even half the drum rolls are exact.

When I first heard this song on the radio, I drove to the music store to get the new Social Distortion album. Imagine my disappointment when I found out there WAS no new Social Distortion album.....

….and in 1981 when Gemini Dream was played on radio, I had my mom drive me downtown so I could buy the new ELO album... Its a great song, but a total ELO rip.
