At just under $4k US, the Bryson Mini T is a fantastic speaker.
To be clear, they are not so “mini”.

They pair nicely with McIntosh SS gear.

Narrow it down to small speakers where the drivers are close together for integration this close and make sure they have deep enough bass response.

Excellent advice, and I would add, what one likes in speakers also depends a great deal on personal taste. As you have been in the sound business for 20+ years, you know, everyone's ears are different. Since you listen to a wide variety of music, remember that a speaker that does well on pop music, say, may have difficulty with naturally recorded soprano voice or harpsichord, especially since many recordings are a bit bright.

Sitting so close, not all speakers will integrate as well as they will if you were sitting further back. It's remarkable how much that can affect whether what you hear sounds realistic or like a speaker. Again, all the more reason to try in our room before you commit.

If your budget stretched to, say, $4800, I would strongly recommend the Janszen Carmelita with air-layer (side tweeter) option. Rave review from (among others) Robert E Greene, who know what natural acoustic music sounds like. And their big brothers (the Valentinas) get a rave review from me (and REG and others).

Good luck -- don't rush -- and have fun!

These are getting rave reviews across the board in the UK - I’ve not heard them, I’ve no idea how available they are outside the UK or their cost (they are £4000 here, but all hifi products are stupidly expensive here compared to anywhere else it seems..)
    Might be worth a google.

I have decided on the Ascend Sierra with the ribbon tweeter upgrade. They don't go real deep, but that's why I have the subs. Thanks guys!

    You're welcome!

Ascend seems to have at least 3 or 4 speakers named "Sierra." Out of curiosity only, which one? Is it the Sierra-2?

This is absolutely correct. Polk runs this special around the holidays usually every year. Why not save $2k? I know a guy who picked up a full 7.1 set of Polk speakers for half off their regular prices.

Nice choice. Getting the better tweeter was a the right move, if your ears are anything like mine. The two speakers I've owned that I found nicest to listen to both had planar tweeters: Apogee, with ribbon drivers; and Janszen, with electrostatic. More transparency, less distortion, smoother FR.

    Congratulations, and have fun!

If you had $4,000 to spend on loudspeakers, I would buy the Polk LSiM 707!

Of course, now you have to post your review of them once you are able to do so. I for one am unfamiliar with these speakers.

Yeah, I would’ve waited for the 50% off sale ($2,000 off of $4,000) from Polk and bought the LSiM 707.

These have always intrigued me as well. Being a direct seller, you don’t hear much about them. The multiple tweeter array looks goofy, but if it sounds good then why not? The pricing certainly reflects the “factory direct” model. I’d be interested to hear about more reviews and comparisons.
